“Your Little Ones” by Steffen Lassen
A 13-year-old boy with no childhood to speak of
only an early ticket through the veil,
as his only view of the future.
He can’t even raise his own head,
or move across his hospital bed
so why does he move me so?
And how can he touch my soul?
And I know a little girl who’s pretty special
She can’t talk and she can barely walk,
but she has those eyes that see through you,
and a heart to give.
And boy does she give!
Yeah she laughs and loves and lives,
and she gives motherly love to the motherless,
boy does she give...
Is it any wonder why the Savior said
to be just like these little ones?
They move us with their strength
and they touch us with their love...
We need to learn so much
just from our little ones
And all the children play outside,
but I call one chubby little boy inside.
He doesn’t know why, but he just holds his hand up high and smiles
as he runs to my side.
Yeah that’s the faith of a child.
That’s the faith of one chubby boy.
He just wants to please me
’cause I’m the one who’s looking after him today.
Why can’t we be the same way?
And is it any wonder why the Savior said
to be just like these little ones?
They move us with their strength
and they touch us with their love,
and they can show us how to have faith.
We need to live just like
just like our little ones.
And become as a child,
just like He said when He said:
“Behold your little ones.”
